Dundas Square is located in the Core of Toronto. This corner is one of the busiest streets in the city and would serve as a visual landmark for the campus but also a major transition and getaway space for students.

The need to continue the commercial nature of Yonge St. while also taking into account the bright advertisements existing on the site and how these would affect a residential student housing typology on this site. Opening up the building to commercial and retail use and still having it be private enough for residential uses is what raised the residential units 12 stories up over a podium “bubble” housing other public amenities and commercial spaces. The pushing and pulling of the programs reflect the conflict between public and private within both the residential towers and commercial podium block.
