Katharina Kovacs Burns

Kathy (Katharina) Kovacs Burns, MSc, MHSA, PhD is currently Adjunct Professor, School of Public Health, University of Alberta (formerly Professor & Director, Health Sciences) and Senior Consultant, Clinical Quality Metrics, Alberta Health Services. Her research and evaluation experience and expertise is community-based, co-designed and focused on health and social issues including homelessness and related micro (individual, family), meso (services, programs, housing) and macro (system response, policy) determinants. Aside from her environmental scans, systematic and scoping reviews, and case studies on homelessness, she is particularly interested in people’s lived experiences pre and post housing or support service improvements. She has presented and published her research locally, nationally and internationally. She has also worked with and advocated to government, health and community services related to housing, homelessness issues and determinants of homelessness. She currently is on the Advisory Committee for the Canadian Observatory on Homelessness and on the Homeward Trust Research Committee.
