ENVS6332 Planning in Toronto Workshop Fall 2018

In fall of 2018, York University graduates’ students enrolled in the Planning in Toronto Workshop partnered with the Toronto HomeShare Pilot Project, a City of Toronto initiative arising from the Toronto Seniors Strategy.
Millennials & seniors in da house: Can inter-generational co-housing help reduce Toronto’s housing crunch?

The housing pilot will match older adults who have a spare room in their home with younger adults including post-secondary students who are looking for affordable housing. In exchange for reduced rent, the students agree to provide 5-7 hours per week contributing to the household. Students enrolled in the workshop, titled Millennials & seniors in da house, and focused on models of integrated community planning and social planning to work collaboratively to assess the strengths and shortcomings of inter-generational home-sharing approaches.
